Face covering designs that get 10/10 for creativity

Face covering designs are reaching creative new levels, whether DIY or on the high street. So, to brighten up the latest lockdown, we’ve pulled together some of the best we’ve seen.

If you’ve had your fill of surgical-style masks, grab a cuppa, have a scroll and let us know the most unique designs you’ve come across… Or made yourself!

The ‘actual face’

The brainchild of a 21-year-old student, this was actually made for those who are deaf and hard of hearing.

Whilst that’s amazing, we love that you can see some actual face. As you’ll know, we love a chat at XIC and with the majority of conversation governed by expressions and body language, nothing beats seeing a big grin!

The multi-tasker

Having a cold brew coffee during your daily walk or a tipple with a friend in the park has never been safer. Although we’re not sure this South Korean creation would quite meet World Health Organisation regulations…

The other ‘actual face’

Ok, so you can’t buy this one (yet) but the prototype of this custom covering had to be shared. The USP? The facial recognition is said to be good enough to unlock your iPhone.

Meanwhile, its creator claims there could be loads of uses for custom masks like this. An alternative for dentists and hospital staff who find youngsters are disorientated when they wake up from surgery and see covered faces… Although might this be just as creepy!?

The wedding files

From delicate lace to a monogrammed Mr and Mrs set, lockdown weddings have accounted for a sizeable chunk of the creative face mask market.

This is one of our favourites, though. Totally understated – just a nicely branded (clean, simple and effective with the option to personalise), safe (individually wrapped) face covering that’ll double up as your wedding favour. Tick, tick, tick!

The Grinch and friends

We couldn’t write this list and not highlight this guy – and the rest of the Christmas collection to be fair. You loved them for festive Zoom meetings and filling family stockings, and we loved seeing all the #festivesnoodselfies. Thank you!

Sadly, the Grinch is no longer in season but…

  • The brand-new tartan range has just landed
  • The much-talked-about Mental Health Aberdeen snood has just been re-stocked
  • AND you can get a super discount on both ranges from now until the end of March!
